On 20th May 2026 the W.I.N. project took part in the “Unlock our potential: creating inclusive workplaces for blind and partially sighted people” webinar, organized and held on zoom by the European Blind Union. We were very much interested to hear the thoughts of EBU and International Labour Organisation (ILO) experts in the field, as well as learn about the experiences on the path to inclusive employment of Loredana Dicsi, Galina Krasteva, Ani Sargsyan and Pawel Masarczyk. Considering that we are in the process of developing three training programmes, which are about to reach out to a community well beyond the boundaries of the partner countries, we do consider that a collaboration with the EBU and the ILO Global Business and Disability Network would be of major value both for the W.I.N. initiative and its target groups, as well as for the members and partners of the said organizations.

Some of the highlights for us from this event are:

  • The importance of the language employers use in diverse teams.
  • The importance of hearing “What do you need? How can we accommodate you?” for really feeling appreciated and integrated in an organization.
  • Organizations, which have resource groups, are better at including employees with disabilities.
  • People with disabilities should boldly take as many internship and practice opportunities as they can.
  • Starting from an NGO or being self-employed is a frequent scenario for a great number of people with disabilities.
  • 7 out of 10 people with disabilities are inactive, according to statistics shared by the ILO, which means that what W.I.N. and other similar initiatives are doing is of crucial importance.

The “Be a visionary: see our qualities” video, developed and launched in four language versions by the EBU is a must see. Follow the link to get to the EN version.
